ELASTIC ,
INELASTIC
If the strain induced in a material by the application of a given
load disappears when the load is removed, the material is said to
behave elastically. The largest value of the stress for
which the material behaves elastically is called the elastic
limit. If the material is stressed beyond this limit, then
it behaves inelastically (i.e., upon removal of the load the strain
will not go to zero).
