Types of Stiffeners
- Open
- Offer very little torsional rigidity; their contribution may be
neglected in the torsional analysis.
- Closed
- Offer more torsional rigidity; their contribution may be included in the
torsional analysis. Their presence basically leads to a "multiple-cell"
box beam.
