VI. INTERNAL PRESSURE

In this section we will consider the analysis of pressurized structures. Examples of these structures are found in fuselage of high-flying aircraft that are required to be pressurized for passenger comfort. We will consider both monocoque and semi-monocoque pressure vessels. The method of analysis is confined to plane-stress problems of cylindrical and spherical pressure vessels with the shell treated as an elastic membrane incapable of supporting any bending loads.
