Astronaut Scholarship
The Astronaut Scholarship recognizes top undergraduate researchers in science, technology, engineering and math with up to a $10,000 scholarship, mentorship, and an invitation to the Awards Gala in Washington DC to present their research to other scholars, academics, and industry leaders. Awarded to Sophomores and Juniors who are in the process of conducting research and who have achieved academic excellence. Lieutenant Colonel Charles P. Downer, Jr. Memorial Scholarships
Scholarships made possible by a fund established by relatives and friends of Lt. Col. Charles P. Downer, Jr. are restricted to students in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. Scholarships are awarded for the fall and spring semesters of each school year on the basis of satisfactory academic record, participation in technical and professional organizations, definite interest in flying, and/or anticipation of a career in aviation. Participation in Air Force ROTC is a desirable, but not mandatory, criterion. The scholarships are available to juniors and seniors only. A student who is a recipient in his or her junior year will be eligible for consideration the following year. Students are eligible to apply from the beginning of the second semester of their sophomore year. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000 per year and is distributed in the amount of $500 per semester.
Henry W. Shurlds, Jr. Scholarship
The recipient of the Shurlds scholarship must be majoring in Aerospace Engineering and be a junior during the next academic year. The amount of the scholarship is $500.00 per year and is distributed in the amount of $250.00 per semester. The recipient of the Shurlds scholarship is chosen based on criteria that are weighted 50% by merit and 50% by need.
Northrop-Grumman Endowed Scholarship
Northrop-Grumman Integrated Systems has provided a fund to endow a scholarship for deserving students enrolled in the Mississippi State University Bagley College of Engineering. The recipient of the Northrop-Grumman scholarship must be a student in good standing in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. Preference will be given to students from areas impacted by Hurricane Katrina. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000 per year and is distributed in the amount of $500 per semester.
Darwyn L. Ausbon, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Darwyn L. Ausbon, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Kristen Ausbon to honor Darwyn Ausbon, a December 1996 graduate of Aerospace Engineering at Mississippi State University. The recipient must be a full-time student majoring in Aerospace Engineering in the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University. Preference is given to applicants with financial need. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000 per year and is distributed in the amount of $500 per semester.
Z.U.A. Warsi Excellence Scholarship
The Department of Aerospace Engineering is pleased to announce a new scholarship, The Z.U.A. Warsi Excellent Scholarship. It was established to encourage undergraduate juniors and seniors to pursue a graduate degree in the area of fluid or solid mechanics. The award is in the amount of $1,500.00.Applicant must be majoring in aerospace engineering and be classified as a junior or senior. Applicants must provide indication of his or her plans for graduate school and his or her preferred areas of research.
Sam Reaves Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the family of Sam Reaves in 2011. It may be awarded for the fall and spring semesters of each academic school year. The recipient of this scholarship must be a full-time student majoring in aerospace engineering and in good academic standings. Upon receiving the scholarship the student must maintain a 2.50 GPA on a 4.00 scale. The scholarship will be awarded on a year to year basis in the amount of $1000 per year and is distributed in the amount of $500 per semester.
